and so it begins

The news I dreaded, but had begun to believe we'd be spared, for at least another year, has been announced: Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has resigned.

I feel like I've been punched in the gut.

Not that Sandy Day was perfect but for sure I would rather have her than anyone Bush is going to put up for the spot. I wonder if he is going to feel obligated to replace her with another woman... better not be that nut job from Texas, Priscilla Owen!

(Although the sick thing is that I am excited all the same, I guess having majored in Constitutional Law I am always giddy at the thought of new shake ups... even if they are for the worse)

About me

Thom Watson was born in a "pro-America" part of the country but then grew up to become a gay, liberal, Harvard-educated atheist living in northern California. He has come to terms with the fact that this pretty much disqualifies him from ever holding public office.
