My trial audblog audio post, which I recorded as a result of having heard Ari Shapiro's segment on Morning Edition earlier today.

I'm not sure that this is something I would use on a regular basis, though the one-minute vacation project at the quiet american is certainly an intriguing use of audio blogging.

Cool. Yeah, I'm trying to figure out if and how audio fits into my journal. I have an audblog subscription, which gives me twelve audio posts a month, but in practice, I hardly ever use it. My public-radio-loving, perfectionist self wants to script each post and insert carefully chosen musical interludes (as I've tried to do a couple of times in an Ira Glass poseur sort of way), when really, I suppose the limitations (and sheer ease) of audblog lend itself more to a spur-of-the-moment, "here I am in the field" kind of communication. I think.

About me

Thom Watson was born in a "pro-America" part of the country but then grew up to become a gay, liberal, Harvard-educated atheist living in northern California. He has come to terms with the fact that this pretty much disqualifies him from ever holding public office.
