iraq: a letter of resignation

Wow… this (also from The New York Review of Books, but the April 10, 2003 edition) is very provocative, especially given that his former agency is the one for which I currently work. I so understand where he’s coming from, though. Transcript and audio file from NPR’s All Things Considered.
And, given the current political climate of questioning the patriotism or trustworthiness of anyone who speaks out against the war or the policies of this administration—or who even asks questions (viz. Courtland Milloy’s column in Monday’s Washington Post)—it feels like a subversive and almost politically dangerous (at least as far as how superiors at work might respond) act for me to even post a link to it and admit that I feel much the same way.
